SLOW CLUB

‘When I Go’ - Slow Club

probably one of the prettiest and cutest songs I’ve ever heard. I saw them open up for Camera Obscura during Sydney Festival this year. if you like this song check them out!!!

MY TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO FULLY GROWN CHILDREN!

And now I’m 20 years old, so I feel I truly fit this description finally.

And of course, I would pick no other day than Hump Day to make a reappearance. Y’all know me.

A B & the Sea. (one of the best band names ever?!)

Does it not make you want to jump around and clap and drink Bubble Tea?! (okay, so the latter may just be me…)

They’re the answer to my cry for a modern mix of Zombies, Kinks, Beatles, & Beach Boys. HALLELUJAH & AMEN! They’re also giving away free downloads at http://www.abandtheseamusic.com/ It is in the very description of this tiered, almost game-like giveaway that I found the very thing that finally sold me on them. Yes, I had briefly heard of them, but it was this SINGLE bit that made me realize I could not live without them in my life: “A life sized cutout of Tommy, the Green Ranger riding a mastodon…”

I am a 90′s kid. Hear me roar. Or my mastodon, BUT WHATEVER.

COACHELLA 2010

…every year I see the lineup for Coachella and have this sudden urge to splurge all my savings, get a plane, fly to America and spend all my money on three amazing April days watching some of the world’s greatest artists! This year is no exception! I saw the bill for Coachella 2010 and I felt so disappointed that I would be missing an event of this proportion! To all the contributors on here, I am utterly jealous of you! Even if you aren’t going, you’re still closer to it than I’ll ever be.

Australia doesn’t have a festival of this caliber. We have our fair share of summer music festivals, but none that could match the power of Coachella. Every single artist who’s made a difference in the music world of the last eighteen months is basically going to be at Coachella! So I beg anyone who isn’t going and lives in America! Reconsider and… GO! there’s so many of us who are unlucky.. and live on the other side of the globe that would kill to go!!

Jonathan Boulet

THALAMUS THURSDAY; whatever overwhelms your senses

“Jonathan Boulet is the 20 year old Australian wunderkind whose music is both poignant and intelligent, but with a beauty so sincere it feels like a crime not to embrace. Boulet writes anthemic folk-pop born out of a world of endless campfires and tribal jam sessions.” (source: last fm)

I saw Jonathan Boulet open for Mumford & Sons on Tuesday Night and I was completely shocked at how good they were! They completely exceeded my expectations. Having only heard one song off the radio and seeing how young they looked, I couldn’t believe my eyes whilst I was watching them play! Some of their music reminds me of minus the bear, some bits of vampire weekend, but on a less technical and more relaxed level. Their music is harmonious, chilled out and  really, really pretty! I have no idea why, but they reminded me of the movie STAND BY ME! I don’t understand why, but maybe it’s because their music is the kind you play when you go on an adventure of some sort or drive to the beach. Anyways, hope you guys check them out! I’ve been playing them non-stop since Tuesday, that’s gotta count for something….

Waterloo Records saves my soul

Now, I live about an hour and a half from Austin, Texas.  As you should already know, Austin is a beautiful city.  Now, what makes this bearded cyclist city even more beautiful is their record store Waterloo.  Now, besides having listening parties and the greatest record selection ever, they host in store performances.  I’ve seen many bands ranging from Manchester Orchestra to David Bazan inside Waterloo for free.

This coming monday, SPOON is going to be performing at Waterloo.  Better yet, they are going to be performing in the parking lot that exceeds capacity to about 1400.  Does this not blow your mind?  With purchase of their new album Transference, I got a wristband that allows me to get a VIP spot/signing of record by all of Spoon.

I have loved SPOON for many years.  Transference has already made it on my list of favorite albums.

I just wanted to tip my hat to Waterloo for being the most amazing record store.  It has given me some of my most favorite memories.  I will never be able to thank Waterloo Records enough.

If you ever drop in Austin, Texas, be sure to visit Waterloo Records.  It is almost impossible to not buy anything.

My name is Krista De La Rosa and I am addicted to Waterloo Records.

Delta Spirit -Gimme Some Motivation

few songs make me want to get up and dance like a madwoman like this one. i can’t tell you how much it killed me that they didn’t play this at their show at the drunken unicorn last february.

HOWEVER, when (not if. it’s happening.) they come back & i see them again, i’m making sure to bring bribes for them to play this song.

plus, the video is from way back in 2006 & it just cracks me up, makes my heart swell, and fills my ears with musical bliss. god, i love this band far too much.

(p.s. and if you do nothing else, watch Sean at the end as he’s amazed by his own chicken-picking-up skillz. will surely make you birth a lollama.)

Ex-Girlfriends on Humpday

He doesn’t cook or clean, he’s not good boyfriend material.
We can eat cereal!
He loses interest fast, his relationships never last.
Shut up, girlfriends from the past!

Before I die, I must see them live.

Also, y’all may not know this, but I aspire to form a female version of FotC. I hope you will support me in all future endeavors regarding this aspiration.
