Before Matt & Kim there was Jason and Kori better know as Mates Of State.
Happy happy joy joy! You know why else I love them other than the happy-go-lucky tunes? THE KIDS! So there’s like six of them that they tour with.. six?? no I don’t know. Not six. I think its two. yea. haha but anywhos they’re toddlers so I bet it must feel like six of them. You can check out their blog Band On The Diaper Run. They need their own TV show.
The Life and Times is pretty much my favorite band. Their second full-length, Tragic Boogie, is a beautiful beast of an album. This is the video for “Old Souls” released back in December. ENJOY! and then immerse yrself in more awesome.
I’ve only recently gotten into ‘Florence and the Machine’. Her album ‘Lungs’ is epic and awfully catchy in every single way. I thought i’d post her video for ‘Drumming Song’ to sample one of the tracks off her album. If you haven’t already started listening to her, please do! you won’t regret it.
I have this fascination with She & Him. I don’t know how they do it, but every single track makes me uncontrollably happy. I really cannot wait till Volume Two is released. I mean, waiting for this album to come out is slowly becoming the death of me.
It’s finally Friday. It’s time to enjoy life. Serve yourself a drink. Put on some comfortable clothes. Unwind your week with some She & Him.
You know how there are times when you look in the mirror and you just get so angry? Well, maybe that’s just life in my shoes. Nonetheless, listening to this song makes me want to be in a room full of mirrors. I just sort of really want to break every single mirror and sing along, loudly, to this song. Will it make me feel better? Well, I don’t know, granted, I’m pretty sure my hands will be full of blood. Regardless, it is music like this that just makes you want to hit something and change complete.
If you haven’t heard of Portugal. The Man, well, at least you have now. Portugal. The Man’s vocalist, John Gourley, was the recipient of the 2008 AP Magazine’s ‘Best Vocalist of the Year.’ Very much deserved if I do say so myself.
This is a pretty old song, from the 2007 release of Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘A Book Like This’. This aussie, brother and sister duo have some pretty amazing songs. I always thought this video was aesthetically amazing. It reminds me of when children read books and their imagination is just set free. Enjoy the song and the video!

I first discovered this beautiful fellow while watching Dan in Real Life in 2007. As soon as I discovered him, I downloaded every album and EP he had released. I was in awe. In his most recent album, Heartbeat Radio, there is a track titled “Words & Music”. Even though it is a very, very simple song, it is just one of those songs that makes you feel giddy and happy to be alive.
As the rest of your Friday night remains, give “Words & Music” a listen and let out a smile. This life we live is such a beautiful creativity. Sondre Lerche is the perfect soundtrack to appreciating all that is around you. Enjoy.
